Dancing in the Moonlight, it’s a supernatural delight

🏆💥 TOTTENHAM 5-2 CHARLTON
London Academy derbies are always feisty, let alone for a final – U17 Premier League Cup.
If you carry too much you will be taken out. That’s natural selection. Adapt or drive.

⚪️Luca Williams Barnett stole the show. Dancing in the moonlight 🌕 (actually bagged 2 before the sun came down)
with ⚽️⚽️⚽️ and a diabolical change of gear with start and stop diagonal carries. First goal is textbook, get in the box at pace (he’s on wheels) and hammer a left foot shot through the goalkeeper.
I liked Tynan Thompson too, very quick feet for a winger, positive first touch and end product off the dribble. I also like his defensive workrate to nick the ball and intercept when tracking back without making silly fouls, his attacking intensity means he’s not dwelling between plays.
Gave Charlton’s Valentine a torrid time.
Byfield is dominant at this level and punches good passes.
I liked the looks of Lehane when it comes to receiving, turning and carrying ; reminiscent of a young Dom Solanke but I’d have wanted to see more in the pure 9 things (these 9s peak later anyway).
Feeney alright in the Ryan Yates / Conor Gallagher role to occupy space and make runs (every winning team has one – who’s yours). Reiss Elliott-Parris took the net off after creating his own space the box for the 5th.

🔴For Charlton; I saw Manu Wales frequently off the bench for the U21s. Had key responsibility in midfield with so many changes of direction. Unpredictable for the opponent yet still able to connect with team mates. Think of a young Joe Cole possibly Grealish. Will find a way out of a phone booth. Scored two good goals to get back at 1-1 then 3-2 so can’t really ask for more.
Bradley Tagoe off the right as left footed winger, could create actual separation to get shots off. Reuben Reid LW stayed on the ball a bit. Sol-Loza had a tough matchup as a lone striker and did as best he could to work against the ball and trying to hold up and make runs.
For both team’s fullbacks it’s been a difficult day at the office against electric wingers who gave them a hard time with not enough support from midfielders imo (both teams 433).
In possession Spurs LB Harry Byrne inverted and made the runs to complément Ty. Thomson. Charlton’s Dionte Davis was a bit peculiar but also very quick and made some good final third runs in behind.
I’ve seen most of the Spurs players in the FAYC twice vs Boro (3-2) and Watford (2-4).
But first time watching Charlton’s. Worth taking into account Alan Mwamba and Ibrahim Fullah who I assume are still U17s play week in week out with the U21s.
I’ve been to 75-80 games this season; Murphy’s Law: everything that can happen will happen. Elijah Upson landing (crashing) on the metal adboards head first; medical team rushed onto the pitch whilst the play was still running. Ref being “alright then” and stopped the play. One of these moments you realise how wide the pitch is when it comes to crossing it. Oh well.
🍔Lamex Stadium burgers still painfully average, think of a mid table looking burger being 15th. ⚪️💔
